G.F. Bodley Inspired Gothic Revival Chasuble

Watts and Co. of London has resurrected an old classic with this red chasuble that builds upon a historical Pentecost chasuble designed by G.F. Bodley which incorporates his tongues of fire motif.  The blue orphrey, paired with red, is not something one sees very often (the more common choice being gold) but it works well, breaking the monotony of what has come out of the catalogue industry of mass produced vestments.

This is a great example of a very accessible piece that is at one and the same time unique and striking. This success is achieved through the combination of Bodley's 'tongues of fire' motif and pairing of the red textile with the blue orphrey.
