We're pleased to present another before and after project coming out of Conrad Schmitt Studios in New Berlin, Wisconsin, this time at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Vero Beach, Florida. From the studio:
The decoration of this sacred space draws on gray and gold tones reminiscent of the architecture constructed during St. Helen’s life (~244-333 ce). The apse presents the garden of Heaven, with perfectly pruned, straight trees in an orderly arrangement, and the twelve sheep, representing the Apostles. Throughout the nave, cross motifs and gilded ornament honor St. Helen’s discovery of the True Cross, while medallions of beloved saints and the Lamb of God guide worshippers on a visual pilgrimage toward the sanctuary. The transept mural recounts Emperor Constantine’s miraculous vision of the cross bearing the words In Hoc Signo Vinces, uniting the space in a story of devotion, revelation, and the promise of Heaven. This is actually a project that we have touched upon before a few years back, but since we last did, some further enhancements have been made, so we'd simply invite you to consider the progress so far, and we will remind you of the 'before' state, and just how impressive the beautifications to this church have been to date.
