A Look at Some Custom Wood-Carved Altars and an Ambo from Swiatek Studios in New York

Located in the Western New York State area, Swiatek Studios has been working for over half a century now in the realm of historic building restorations. While their work includes both sacred and secular projects, the studio has quite a history and portfolio in the realm of liturgical and ecclesiastical art.

One of their more recent projects caught my attention. The project, which was done in collaboration with another craftsman, John Trabucco, involved the design and creation of a traditional altar and reredos, a matching freestanding altar, and also a beautiful new ambo, all of which were done for Immaculate Conception Church in Ithaca, New York.

All of these pieces were carved out of a beautiful mahogany and done in a gothic style to mesh with the existing architectural style of the historic church.  Let's take a look.

Here are a few looks at these works in progress -- always particularly inspiring where woodcarving is concerned.

People today still tend to assume that works such as these are no longer producible, but in reality, workshops like Swiatek Studios and others are still more than willing and able to help churches and parishes create custom works of liturgical art; works worthy of the tradition of the Church.

If you'd like to explore a project such as this with Swiatek Studios, we'd invite you to visit their website or find them on social media.
