Mythodium Architects (also known as Baker Architects) has shared some interesting digital designs for its project in Jackson, Missouri for the Church of the Immaculate Conception. In terms of the particular background and approach to the project, they comment:
Their current 1960's church lacks design awe and feels bland in comparison to the importance of the mass. Mythodium spearheaded the design of a new church that not only fits the growing congregation size, but reflects the beauty of the mass allowing attendees to experience the reality of heaven on Earth.
The church will follow a gothic revival template and the proposed design template features a beautiful gothic altar of reservation, complete with reredos, as well as a freestanding altar of sacrifice, all of which has been set behind an altar rail. Perhaps most striking of all in the design is the beautiful blue, stencilled ceiling.
Also of great interest in the proposed design are the beautiful, Victorian style gothic stained glass windows.
Finally, a quick look at the exterior. featuring a classic central bell tower and spire and gothic framed portico.
Construction is presently underway on the new church and we look forward to seeing the final results.
