For those who are in the market for vestments according to the Spanish tradition, you may want to look no further than A&M Ornamentos, a company based out of the city of Pontevedra situated in Galicia in the northwest of Spain.
The Spanish style is very unique, comprised of slender chasubles as well as pointed and tasseled shields on copes. It is also a style frequently characterized by highly ornamental textiles and/or embroideries, consonant with the Spanish baroque tradition.
Spain is also, of course, home to the popular (and much coveted) 'Spanish privilege,' referring to the permission to use cerulean blue vestments for Marian feasts such as the feast of the Immaculate Conception.
Interestingly, the Spanish style of vestments has a great deal of popularity in the English speaking world, so today we will do a quick review of some of the current offerings being made by this authentically Spanish atelier.
