Today I would like to introduce our readers to a relatively new vestment start-up, situated in Hong Kong: Adornare Paramenti Sacri. A longtime friend to LAJ introduced us to the new enterprise, so we thought we'd take a look at what they are doing. First though, we'll let them introduce themselves. From their website:
We are a small business based in Hong Kong dedicated to the production of sacred vestments for the Catholic Church since 2024. Our vestments are made in authentic Western styles (mostly Italian and French), even though our workshop is located in the far East. Adornare Paramenti sacri is led by Catholics who have expertise and passion in liturgical arts, especially sacred vestments.
We browsed through their offerings online and they offer various styles ranging from contemporary post-conciliar styles of gothic, gothic revival and Roman. My own sense is that their particular focus and passion particularly lay in the nineteenth century French tradition. That tradition involved the use of Parisian cross orphreys on the back of the chasuble, made by galloons and then within, some kind of religious symbol (like the IHS monogram or the Agnus Dei and so on).
So with that in mind, we've plucked a few samples of some of these works for your consideration. If you'd like to see more of their work, we'd invite you to visit their website.
